Final Fantasy

Japanese series logo, which also appears in the post-16-bit era North American localizations Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー Fainaru Fantajī) is a series of computer and console role-playing games produced by Square Enix (originally Square Co., Ltd.). It may be the most widely distributed video game franchise of all time, including standard console role-playing games, portable games, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, games for mobile phones, three anime productions, and two full length CGI films. Unlike most game series, the separate installments bearing the “Final Fantasy” name are nearly always unconnected in terms of plot and gameplay specifics, and are sequels in name only. In terms of numerical sequels, it is the longest-running video game series, with Final Fantasy XII having recently been released in 2006.

Final Fantasy Origins

finalfantasy-origins-front.jpg … The Proloque starts…

A great darkness shrouded the world.
The wind died. The sea raged.
The earth began to decay.
Only a prophecy kept hope alive in people's hearts.
“When a darkness veils the world, four warriors of lights shall come.”
And, after journeying far, four young warriors did at last appear.
In the hands of each rested a mysterious crystal.

Shinra, a greedy corporation with a stranglehold on the world's power supply, threatens to destroy the planet with its insatiable harvest of Mako energy. From deep within the slums of the techno-metropolis of Midgar, a scant but determined resistance faction called AVALANCHE is desperate in their bid to stop Shinra at any cost. Enlisting the services of a young mercenary named Cloud, a former member of Shinra's elite paramilitary force SOLDIER, these eco-terrorists aim to prevent a disaster of global proportions. Meanwhile, the reckless exploits of renegade Shinra scientists have exposed the planet to a danger more sinister than anyone could have imagined.
